TABOR facing legislative threats in 2019 and 2020

The coordinated attacks on the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights will be ramping up in November of this year. Colorado Proposition CC will appear on the November ballot, asking voters to “allow the state to retain excess revenue for transportation and education measures.” If this measure passes, the state would be allowed to keep excess funds that TABOR currently requires to be refunded. In 2020 there are as many as 18 proposals from the Left, all of the designed in some way to circumvent—or, in some cases—outright eliminate TABOR provisions.

RTD Board Director and givernment transparency advocate Natalie Menten joins the show today to discuss these threats to TABOR, as well as the history of the legislation, its three main functions, and impact that TABOR has had on Colorado’s economy.
